No, the file will not be transferred at any time. It remains on your computer. The encryption is done by a program component of the website, which is executed directly in your browser, on your end device. This program component does not transmit any data to the server, neither data nor password.

To do this, choose a suitable way that is as separate as possible from the one you use to send the file. So you could send the password by messenger, the file by email. Sending the password verbally, by phone or by mail is also a good way to avoid compromising the protection of your file. Avoid sending the password and the file in the same message (such as a single email) – this lowers the level of protection because a potential attacker would only need to intercept a single message to gain access to the file.
You can use conpal LAN Crypt 2Go to encrypt and decrypt data. You will receive a license from us. For details about the usage please refer to our EULA. Especially the redistribution of the software is only allowed with our permission. Distribution to countries that are subject to legal export restrictions is prohibited.

Under Windows it is possible to integrate conpal LAN Crypt 2Go into Outlook. Whenever you now send an attachent in an email or calendar invite to a recipient who is outside your organization, you will receive the recommendation to encrypt the file. To do this, you simply set the password, the rest happens automatically. The encrypted version of the file is then attached. Of course, you can also reject encryption, in which case the file will be attached as usual. In addition, they can also manually trigger the encryption of attachments if necessary. In this way, they can ensure that data is also transferred securely within their organization.
If the email goes to a recipient with whom a password has already been exchanged, conpal LAN Crypt 2Go offers to use the same key from the “Key Ring” password store.
conpal LAN Crypt 2Go is not open source software, but proprietary property of conpal GmbH. For private users conpal GmbH provides the software as freeware for free use. The conpal LAN Crypt 2Go Reader, which only allows decrypting files, is also free for professional users.
conpal LAN Crypt 2Go uses the same encryption method as the Enterprise solution. The difference is in the keys used. With conpal LAN Crypt 2Go these are securely derived from the passwords entered by the user. The Argon2 password hashing method is used. With the Enterprise solution the keys are generated by a random number generator.
It is possible to import password-based keys into the conpal LAN Crypt enterprise solution admin via an API interface and thus make them available to other users.
Yes, just use the included conpal LAN Crypt 2Go tool (Windows du Mac) or the function “Decrypt – with new password based key…” (iPhone and Android app). Alternatively, you can also decrypt the file using our web portal at www.conpal.de/en/2-Go.

Windows, Mac and Linux: Select the file and choose the option “Encrypt with conpal LAN Crypt 2Go”. Alternatively, you can open the conpal LAN Crypt 2Go app and select the file using the “Select” function. Then set a password. The file will now be encrypted.
If the file was already initially encrypted, it will be automatically re-encrypted upon saving.
Mobile devices: Open the conpal LAN Crypt app and select the file to be encrypted in the “Overview” menu. Now select the option “Encrypt” and “with new password-based key…”. Then set the password. The file will now be encrypted.
Web portal: Call up www.conpal.de/en/2-Go. Drag and drop the file into the “conpal LAN Crypt 2Go Interface” selection box, or open it by selecting the “Browse…” option. Now set the password. The file will be encrypted.
